For 2 players · 60–90 min · Print & play tonight

Print & play tonight: a cold case for the two of you. You hold half of the case file, the other player holds the other half. An old case that was never solved, and only together can you find out what really happened. No board, no app, no phone or online codes: just the two of you at the table, a pile of evidence and a lot of talking it through.

The case: The Blue Hour at Hotel Aurora

Hotel Aurora, 14 September 1957. During a gala the power goes out, and when the lights come back the painting The Blue Hour by Elena Marlowe has vanished. Now the two of you are staying in the restored hotel and get two old boxes: one of you the notebook of the hotel detective, the other the papers of the telephone operator. Nobody ever put the two together. Until tonight.

How it works

Each of you gets your own file, with clues the other person doesn't have. You can tell, read aloud and ask questions, but you can't just grab each other's papers. Every puzzle needs information from both files. There are 6 puzzles, each with a 4-digit code, and a final question: who, where and why? The check card shows you whether a code is right. You read clocks, search a telephone log, follow a route on the floor plan and more. No wordplay or Dutch needed.

What's inside

  • 2 personal case files, one for each player (2 pages each)
  • 6 puzzles and a final question: who, where and why
  • A shared page with the case and the suspects
  • A check card, so you can see for yourselves whether a code is right
  • A short one-page guide to get started
  • Hints in 3 steps, for when you get stuck
  • An answer key with the full solution path
  • An epilogue and a certificate
  • 11 pages, in A4 and US Letter

Who it's for

For couples who want a different kind of night in, and just as good for two friends. For an ordinary weeknight, a rainy weekend or as a surprise on your anniversary: it works all year round.
